Fun with the January Crop Kit......

Hi there!

Tania joining you today with a layout share!  I have to say I just love when my new Shop and Crop DT box arrives each month as always lots of gorgeous goodies to play with and this month was no exception....  I created two layouts for the January Crop kit and this one is using some of the left overs!

"Sandy Beaches"

I used some white cardstock from the kit as my base and then got busy tearing some different size and patterned papers to add to it.  I kept the page fairly simple using a doily from the kit and one of the chipboard titles!  Finished the page off with a few flowers and some shells from my stash!

Some close ups........

Well that is all from me today, I hope I have inspired you all a little.   I still have one more page to share with you all using this great kit so be sure to pop back soon.  And don't forget to visit the store here and check out all the fabulous kits and products.  You can use this code TR5 to get yourself a little discount......

Until next time, happy crafting Tania xx

Sand Between Your Toes

Hello Everyone

I only have one more sleep and then my two children are back at school, so today I thought I would share a layout with a photo of my then little man. In the photo I think he is about two and tomorrow he is going off to grade three. Not really sure how that happened.

For this layout I used the January 2018 Crop kit. The paper within the kit is Summer Breeze by Penelope Dee. I had never used or even see this paper so glad that I got the chance to use it.

Here are some close ups

We call my little man Mr Serious and this photo is a perfect example of him playing but with that look of complete concentration on his face. He still has that look today.

Don't forget to visit the store and if you make a purchase please use the code DO5 for $5 off your purchase.

Happy Creating

Good Morning Shop and Croppers,

I can't believe that I am already saying 'Goodbye' to January - a new month means new kits and a whole lot of brand new scrappy goodness, so as February looms upon us I would like to reflect on the versatility of the January Crop Kit

Earlier in the month I shared a layout I created with this kit and today I have another share with you, we recently spent a few days in Surfer's Paradise and the weather was amazing

Here are a few close ups - I must say my absolute favourite item to use was the mixed media sand because it was something new to me.
Do you get excited when you receive something you have never used before or does it make you nervous?

Before I go I would like to showcase to you all the amazing layouts that have been created by the DT using this kit - I just love, love, love how everyone's style is different which just goes to show the versatility of having a kit in your stash. With so much product for such great value the possibilities are endless really.

Two ways with watercolour powders

Ken Oliver Color Burst, Lindy's Magicals, Color Crush Powders, Brusho Crystals. They're all so much fun!

Hello everybody, it's Donna here and today I have two cards that use these powders as an integral part of the design.

Firstly, I used the crystals to colour some watercolour paper. I used Colour crush powders in Misty Lilac, Glacier Blue and Spearmint, and just a tiny bit of Color Burst Indigo and Brusho Sea Green.
I sprinkled the tiniest amount of each of these (except the Spearmint which was lighter, so I used more of this one) onto a dry piece of watercolour paper, and then lightly misted it with water. I used enough water to get the colours to move around, but not so much that it all blended and looked like regular watercolour paint. Once it was dry, I used a butterfly die to cut out the butterflies and their bodies. These would make such a lovely accent on a scrapbooking page.

The butterflies have been attached with some strong glue in the middle, so that the wings can fly free. This will be a card that I hand directly to a friend, and not put through the post, as it will get flattened in the mail. You can see the dimension in the close up shot.
The sentiment was stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossed in white. I love how the powders separate into their component colours, and you get so many different variations from the one powder, as shown in the photo below.

Next, I used Color Burst Powders in Merlot, Tangerine and Violet to create another background piece. This time I left it intact. I used some of the papers from the April 2017 Crop Kit, and fussy cut them out. The card was a little busy as it was, so I lay the fussy cut pieces on white paper and cut them out again, leaving a second white border. That was what was needed to let the images pop off the page. The sentiment is from my stash.
Here's a closer look at the way the powders react with water. You can see the tiny dots of colour where there wasn't much water at all, and he larger blobs and more pastel background where more water hit the powder. You can't control these powders 100% which is what gives them such a lovely organic look. Watercolour paper gives the best results, as it allows the pigment to sit on top of the paper and run and blend.

I hope you've been inspired to grab out some powders and enjoy playing with them. I've had a (colour) Blast!!!

If you are interested in seeing more of my cards, feel free to have a look at my Instagram, where I've used these powders for other cards too, including a very vibrant orange!
Until next time, may your days be full of colour!
Blessings,
Donna

One design, two ways - By Tamara Buckler

Hi All,

As we watch all the new product releases coming out from Creativation, I am on a bit of a kick to use more of what I have to make room for more new products. I guess you could call it a stash bust! I love working with different ranges, and making them come together. And I also love scrapping in different sizes, and this is what I am here to share with you today - taking one layout design and making it work for two different size layouts.

The first layout that I am sharing with you is a traditional 12x12 using the Kaisercraft Christmas range called 'Mint Wishes' and the We 'R' Memory Keepers 'High Five' collection. The design is based around this diagonal line between the two papers and I love the contrast between them.

The floral elements are fussy cut from the Kaisercraft range, and do a great job of softening the lines between the two papers. Quite a few of the embellishments on this page are from Cocoa Vanilla, including the large frame tucked behind the right of the photo.

Most of the alphas used are also from Cocoa Vanilla, combining stickers with Die Cuts is a great way to use up bits and pieces while adding extra interest.

The second page I'm sharing with you today is a 8.5 x 11 page and is using the same basic design element as the first page, in that it has the diagonal line and contrasting papers. The papers used here are from Maggie Holmes 'Chasing Dreams' and Cocoa Vanilla 'Wild at Heart' collections.

I have used a number of Die Cuts from Cocoa Vanilla to again soften the line between the two papers, this time the scale of the embellishments are a little smaller to suit the smaller page size. The frame behind the photo is also from Cocoa Vanilla, and I have DIY'd a frame from some Pink Fresh Studio paper that I have been hoarding (the little birds are also fussy cut from this paper). These frames are flat, rather than the thicker frame on the first layout, so as to not add too much weight to the page.

Again I mixed the alphas for interest and used up some puffy stickers in my stash. I added in some old chipboard from my stash also.

I love the way these layouts turned out, and I hope I have shown how you can use one design, two ways.

Have a great day, scrappy friends!

Big Loves
Tam x
